Our Story

How we ended up doing this

We build and repair decks around Escondido, from a backyard upgrade to a replacement for one that's rotted through. Most of us got into this trade because we liked building things people actually use every day, not just look at.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance a board is soft, a post is wobbling, or the stain has worn through and the wood underneath is turning gray. We check the framing first, not just the surface, because new boards over rotten joists just hide the problem for another year.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

We carry liability insurance and the contractor's license required for deck work over $500 in California. Ask for proof before any lumber gets ordered.

Written Quotes

You get a written estimate that breaks out material and labor, not a number texted to you after a handshake. If something changes mid-job, you'll see that in writing too.

Built to Local Code

Railing height, baluster spacing, and footing depth all get checked against local code, not just what looks right. We've dealt with Escondido's permit process enough times to know what the inspector will flag.

Clean Job Sites

Sawdust, packaging, and old decking don't sit in your yard for the length of the job. Final haul-away includes every scrap of the old deck, not just the parts that were easy to load.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand your job off to a rotating set of subcontractors. The same people who dig the footings are the ones setting the railing at the end.

On-Time Scheduling

A deck build has a rough schedule from footings to final board, and weather or material delays are the usual reason it shifts. We call ahead instead of leaving you guessing on a no-show day.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who we are and how we work.

How long have you been building decks?
Experience in deck construction varies by contractor, and it's worth asking directly how many years a company has worked specifically on decks versus general carpentry or remodeling. A deck builder with trade-specific experience knows local soil conditions and the right hardware for treated lumber without researching it mid-project.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Some deck builders run their own crew for every stage of the build, while others subcontract out the concrete footings or railing work. Asking directly who will be on site each day affects both quality control and scheduling.
Can I see examples of past deck work?
A deck builder should be able to show photos of completed projects, ideally including a few in a similar style or material to what's being planned. Driving by a past job in person, if the homeowner is comfortable with that, shows how the deck has held up over time rather than just how it looked on install day.
Why hire a smaller deck builder instead of a large remodeling company?
A smaller, trade-specific deck builder usually has the owner or lead carpenter directly involved in every job, rather than a project manager coordinating subcontractors. That often means faster decisions on site when something unexpected comes up during framing.
Where is Titan Deck Co based?
Titan Deck Co is based in Escondido, CA, and works throughout the surrounding North County San Diego area.
Are you available on weekends or evenings for calls?
Phone calls and estimate scheduling are typically available during standard business hours, with some flexibility for evening calls to fit working homeowners. Actual construction work usually happens on weekdays to avoid disturbing neighbors with early morning saw and nail gun noise.
Do you clean up the job site after a deck project?
Daily cleanup of cut-offs, packaging, and sawdust keeps a job site safe and keeps the yard usable in the evenings during a multi-day build. Final cleanup includes hauling away all old decking and concrete debris from footings.
What happens if something gets damaged during construction, like a sprinkler line or fence?
A licensed and insured deck contractor carries liability coverage for accidental damage to sprinkler lines, fencing, or landscaping that happens during digging or framing. Any damage should get repaired as part of the project, not left for the homeowner to sort out separately.
Will you finish a deck that another contractor started or abandoned?
Taking over a partially built deck means inspecting what's already framed before adding anything new, since shortcuts in footings or joist spacing won't show up until weight gets put on them. Some contractors will take these jobs on, but expect an honest assessment of whether the existing work needs to come out first.
How can I tell the deck work is being done correctly?
Checking joist spacing, footing depth, and ledger board flashing before the decking goes down is the only real way to confirm a deck is built correctly, since all of that gets covered up once boards are installed. Asking to see the framing before it's covered, or requesting the permit inspection report, both confirm the structural work meets code.
